As a child, he was introduced to the world of art and design, with every flea market visit and museum trip nurturing his budding passion.<br><br> His insatiable curiosity led him to the vibrant streets of Bangkok. For over 25 years, this city, with its rich tapestry of history and modernity, became his canvas. Here, he honed his skills, and merged his Western design sensibilities with Eastern craftsmanship, drawing inspiration from the city's unique blend of aesthetics.<br><br> But MCL Design is not just a jewelry brand; it's a storyteller. Each meticulously handcrafted piece tells a tale, with every gemstone and metal chosen to weave a narrative. The designs are tweaked to perfection, before wax carvings and prototypes are made; Unlike so many jewelry manufactures today, MCL uses no 3D CAD renderings in the creation of MCL fine jewelry.<br><br> Every step of the design process is a work of art; from the intricate carving of the wax, to the meticulous hand-placement of each and every stone. Each color, texture, profile, and angle accounted for, in the pursuit to create a miniature sculpture, to be worn and to represent someone’s unique personal style.<br><br> Today, MCL Design is recognized globally for its innovative designs and impeccable craftsmanship. From celebrities to fashion enthusiasts, many have adorned themselves with Matthew's creations, each piece a testament to his talent and vision.<br><br> Matthew's journey, however, wasn't just about talent and passion. As he admits, luck played a pivotal role. His big break came unexpectedly from the travel field. Nancy Novogrod, the former editor of Travel & Leisure, chanced upon his creations during her Thailand visit. Impressed, she introduced them to Bergdorf Goodman in New York. The rest, as they say, is history.
